Fundraiser Support

The Foundation allocates staff time to meeting commitments from the previous year’s fundraising campaign: that is, delivering the custom tours or other experiences promised to a successful bidder or bidders in the silent auction.

For the 2020 fundraiser, volunteer Lorene Archdekin attracted donations of experiences, gift certificates and unique merchandise from generous Foundation supporters so that a fundraising auction could occur even though the traditional gala, with its outstanding sponsor funding, had to be canceled for 2020.

Meanwhile, 2019 auction winners and sponsors earned the Foundation’s gratitude for agreeing that Keep Loreto Magical during the pandemic means Keep Loreto Healthy above all. They are waiting patiently for their prizes and recognition so that our staff person can give priority to tasks that serve our mandate while respecting the Covid-19 safety rules set by public health officials.

An annual infusion of funds remained necessary, so Alex Vandenheim created a 2020 auction catalog and, in consultation with the other Advisory Committee members, exercised his cyberskills to mount an exciting online silent auction which ran from October 29 to November 5 and was successfully promoted in Facebook by volunteer Linda Cerro. Enthusiastic bidders showed their loyalty to magical Loreto and our goals for protecting its natural wonders, so auction results exceeded our expectations. Separate tasks flow from the planning and execution of the current year’s Noche Magica gala. Foundation staff contribute to a range of these efforts.
