John Banas
A Loreto Bay homeowner since 2004, John is dedicated to the maxim, “Leave every person, place and situation better than you find it.”
He is the founder and current CEO of Mark Business Intelligence Systems, a US-based technology company specializing in software solutions for governance, risk, audit and compliance - serving over 1 million users in 52 countries globally.
Before starting the software company, John was in the C-Suite of multinational organizations in the manufacturing, emergency services, and technology industries.
Prior to his business career, John worked in Silicon Valley as an environmental, real estate and corporate attorney, with the law firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, and studied hazardous materials management at the University of California.
John has lectured at University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, Stanford University’s School of Law, and Latvia University.
He recently worked with Random House to publish LEFTY, an American Odyssey, a biography of his grandfather, New York Yankees Hall-of-Famer, Vernon “Lefty” Gomez.
A graduate of Tufts University and Northwestern University School of Law, John is an avid historian, pickle-baller and hiker of trails along the Sierra de la Giganta.
